Below is a video of the new lighting at the top of Blackpool Tower. There are also some still pictures. in these you can see the new floor to ceiling glass walls and the extended glass floor.

Sorry the video is a bit shaky and noisy  –  just a phone camera from a windy beach.

The Brilliance Scheme in Birley Street Blackpool moved another step nearer to completion. Six stainless steel arches have been erected across the street with sound and light projectors built into them. this is part of a £3.5m regeneration by light scheme for the town centre. Below is viodeo of the latest trial with all the light and sound working.

Wild west loco tram

This tram has been completely refurbish and had its press relaunch today. Although it does not show up clearly in the daylight, this is an illuminated tram and will be in service during the illuminations period.

This redevelopment of town centre lighting aims to encourage visitors to explore the town centre all year round.

One of the projector heads lighting up the dome of the Grand theatre as it moves round. Each post has a mobile rotating projector that streams moving patterns and emblems on the pavements and buildings. There are several of these erected in Church street and Corporation street. Additional lighting features are due to be installed in the area over the next few months.

Christmas is almost upon us and to celebrate the festive season, on Saturday 15th November  Blackpool will be doing what it does best and illuminating the town centre with it’s grand 2008 Christmas Light’s Switch On.

Not only will Blackpool residents and visitors be able to see the streets of the town illuminated, but they will also have the chance to meet newly re-united pop trio Atomic Kitten!

The Illuminations department wereputting up the new Christmas Tree in St. johns Square tonight.

The Christmas Illuminations are now up and the new moving light displays are working in Church street and Corporation street. More pictures tomorrow.
