Blackpool’s Grundy Art Gallery has begun playing host to a number of pieces by top photographer Alice Hawkins.

The artist, who moves between the worlds of fashion and fine art, is showing off her work at the venue until July 11th.

More than 60 portraits taken in cities from Las Vegas to Tokyo make up the exhibition, which also includes a new body of work dedicated to entertainers in Blackpool that was specially commissioned by Grundy. The Grundy is only a short walk from the Holmsdale Hotel.

Wild west loco tram

This tram has been completely refurbish and had its press relaunch today. Although it does not show up clearly in the daylight, this is an illuminated tram and will be in service during the illuminations period.

After an absence of four years the popular organ concerts are to return to the North Pier in Blackpool for the 2009 Summer Season.

The owners of the Pier(Six piers Ltd and a subsidiary company of Leisure Parcs) apparently received a two thousand name petition virtually demanding the return of the organ.

The concerts will be performed twice daily at 11.00am and 2.30pm from Sunday to Friday commencing on the 27th of May 2009.

The content of the concert programme will be popular tunes,light classics and a request section.
