Sunday 22 June

Unfortunately having had great weather for the last few weeks, it was horrible this weekend with some rain and really strong gale force winds.

Some of the events for the start of veterans week such as air displays and parachute jumps had to be cancelled.

Stanley Park – 6th June

The park is approximately 2 ½ miles around its boundaries and includes 22 acres of lake, 96 acres of golf course, as well as providing a natural habitat for an extensive variety of wildlife and flora. What makes the park so complete is its provision of numerous recreational facilities which were included in the original landscape design.

The park has recently been awarded a multi-million pound fund for rejuvenation by the Heritage Lottery. There’s plenty going on so please come and take a look round.

The beds have just been planted out in the Italian Gardens with the clock tower in the background.
